Description[]
Highly dangerous and often fatal encounters ensue when prospectors mistake polar bears for snow drifts. These were one of the most fearsome animals back on Earth, and they have adapted well to their new home in the Southern Glacier Biome. Polar bears are highly aggressive and, thankfully, live a solitary existence.

After the Climate Emergency on Earth, the polar bear was approaching extinction. On Icarus, its variant has found a home on the moon's newly-formed glacier zones.

Avoiding[]
Polar Bears only spawn in Southern Glacier in Olympus. Avoid entering this region if not ready.
In Styx, they spawn in two southern Arctic regions, and some central parts of northern Arctic regions.
Polar Bears are only found in Arctic regions in Prometheus, making Tundra regions relatively safer.
Weaponry[]
Polar Bears' HP protects them from being one-shotted by most weapons. However, ranged weapon is still recommended due to the mechanism how wildlife locate attacking prospectors - They travel to the point where the prospector fired the projectile, not directly to the attacking prospector. One can hit a Polar Bear from afar, relocate immediately, so the Polar Bear will not be able to find the prospector, rinse and repeat until it is dead.
Melee is ill-advised due to its sheer power, deep wound infliction, large attack area, fast speed, and massive health.
Weakness[]
Polar Bear spawns alone, so prospectors are unlikely to encounter a pack of them at once. They cannot jump, making ice ravines impassable, where prospectors can jump across and attack them with ranged weapon.
Hunting[]
When hunting for Polar Pelt and/or Polar Bear Vestige, build an "egg cage" of wooden pillar and hide inside will buy you some time before it breaks the cage and reaches you.
Skinning[]
Polar Bears and other Large creatures such as the Buffalo require a Knife of at least Tier 2 quality or better to skin, these include all Workshop Knives even the 
MXC Knife, Iron/Steel/Platinum/Titanium are all viable as well. As such Stone/Bone knives will not be able to skin them, so make sure you prepare before venturing on the ice. Skinning with a 
Taxidermy Knife will produce a Head that can be used to make a Trophy.
Processing a polar bear's carcass will produce several useful resources, notably 
Polar Bear Pelt. Because of its weight, a polar bear cannot be transported to a 
Skinning Bench.
