Experiment run by Dr Lee. The assumption 'Scorpions are just land lobster' was subject of much discussion. Dr Lee wanted to prove this fast reproducing, meaty arachnid, could be a source of food for prospectors in arid environments.
Due to Prospectors having an extreme aversion to dealing with these enlarged scorpions, this line of research had it's funding cut. Somewhat suspiciously, despite the project being cancelled, a biological containment unit was discovered planet-side. Seeding the large scorpions on Icarus. Dr Lee is currently under investigation.

Scorpions are very strong physically, and are more resistant to damage than other species because of their hard exoskeleton. Scorpions are deadly foe to face for the unprepared, or unsuspecting prospector. They will usually appear out of the sand in desert biomes. They have two different types of attacks, one is with their pinchers that is a physical damage attack and their stinger which will damage and also poison prospectors causing damage every tick. Keeping this in mind, before entering the desert bringing along some sort of anti-poison medicine, such as 
Anti-Poison Pill, can prevent an unnecessary death. Spears are also a good alternative to knives as the longer range thrust attack can be used from a height advantage.
