Once extinct on Earth, Mammoths were brought to Icarus and can be found in the arctic regions. Originally, they were brought to assist with repopulation efforts due to their strength and size, but they are rarely seen anymore. Group 15 once studied a massive Mammoth that seemed to be affected by Exotic Materials.

In the aftermath of failed terraforming, this mammoth variant was released illicitly by a disillusioned geneticist. It found an unexpected home in the newly frozen arctic of Icarus.
Lore Entry #1: Revived ancient earth species. A well preserved sample was found deep in the Le Brea tar pits, the first few mammoths were carried by elephants as surrogate mothers. Due to significant debate on the ethics of the mammoths revival, the experiment had to be conducted on Icarus.
Lore Entry #2: Extremist group TPS was responsible for the organization of global protests against the revival of this species. While this study was not the most advanced genetics experiment, it became a pivotal reference in arguments against genetic augmentation. A slippery slope to experimentation on humans.

Skinning[]
Skinning up a mammoth's carcass will produce resources, and requires an 
Iron Knife or better. Because of its weight, a mammoth cannot be transported to a 
Skinning Bench. Skinning with a 
Taxidermy Knife or while using the 
Xenon Backpack produces a Vestige that can be used to make a Trophy.
